Fun Evidence Based Therapy for Kids

Coastal Kids aims to work closely with families to build skills and connection for our clients, their families and their community. Our mission is to support our clients to be able to connect with their friends, family and community to the best of their ability.

Coastal Kids was established in 2015 by Speech Pathologist Mel von Bertouch. Initially a speech pathology practice, in 2025, we changed the name to Coastal Kids Allied Health and broadened our scope of services to include Occupational Therapy.  We offer paediatric Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy services both in clinic, and in the community.

Our Values

Integrity

Trust in our services and our staff is of utmost importance for our clients.

Honesty allows for open communication and best results for our families.

We do our best to provide the best service to our clients at all times, and seek support to do so when required.

Collaboration

We value teamwork and communication, between Coastal Kids Allied Health staff, with parents and carers and other professionals involved with the care of our clients.

We help each other, offer support, and work together to provide the best services we can.

Community

Our business sits within the Townsville community, and helping children thrive in their communities drives what we do.

We participate in community events, support local initiatives and contribute a proportion of our sales to charity.

Growth

We encourage professional growth of all staff, and support professional development opportunities, share knowledge, and build skills across the team.

We provide and seek out resources that enable us to meet our goals.

We love seeing the growth of our clients, and their families achieved through evidence based therapies and coaching of caregivers.

Sustainability

We respect work-life balance and support our staff to achieve this.

We acknowledge that all families have different needs and loads, and work with them to find therapy solutions that work within the family unit.

We are flexible while maintaining evidence-based practise and business sustainability.

We only have one planet, and contribute to efforts to preserve it.

Equality

We support equal access to services and actively develop cost effective ways of delivering services wherever possible.

We provide equal levels of respect and courtesy to all families that engage with Coastal Kids Allied Health services.

We do not discriminate in the delivery of services or in the employment opportunities available.
